Marjorie Leona Horwood (nee Jenkins)
January 19, 1932 - April 2, 2025
Marjorie Was born on January 19, 1932 to Archibald and Ivy Jenkins of Lower Jenkins Cove. She was one of 12 children. Upon the death of her mother at a young age Marjorie helped raise her younger siblings until her marriage to Melvin Horwood on March 11, 1952. Together they raised 3 children Harvey, Christine & Roseann.
Marjorie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
For many years Marjorie worked at the fish plant and went fishing with Melvin. She loved the water and never once got seasick. She spent many years as a member of the Red Cross and The Womens Institue and knitting for the NONIA company.
Marjorie loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting with Pansy & Nina. She also spent many hours with Eddie & Frances playing games of Phase 10. Marjorie loved & enjoyed spending time with all of her family.
Marjorie is predeceased by her husband of 70 years Melvin Horwood, her parents Archibald & Ivy Jenkins, son Harvey Horwood, grandson Bobby Pelley, sisters Pansy (Cecil) Mitchell, Joan (Lloyd) Ings and Betty Jenkins, brothers Harvey Jenkins, Jack (Evelyn) Jenkins, and Clarence (Clarie) Jenkins, Brother-in-law Austin Rogers and Clarence Baggs.
Left to morn with fond and loving memories are her children Christine (Jim) Pelley, Roseann (Howard) Lewis and daughter-in-law Joan Horwood, Grandchildren Jason (Tonya) Pelley, Scot (Michelle) Lewis, Terry (Lori) Horwood, Stephen (Jennifer) Lewis, Trevor (Crystal) Horwood, Todd (Lindsay) Horwood and Melissa Linfield, Great Grandchildren Andrew, Alex, Avery, Nathan, Tyler, Ella, Aaron, Abigail, Ashton, Hannah, Emily and Issac, brothers Ralph (Joyce) Jenkins, Edward (Frances) Jenkins, sisters Doreen Rogers, Bernetta Jenkins and Thelma Baggs, sister-in-law Marjorie Jenkins and a large circle of nieces & nephews.
A special thank you to Mom’s Home Care Workers over the years and to the staff of the Long-Term Care Unit, Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Center, Twillingate who took such loving care of Mom while she was there
