It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Marguerite “Joan” Sharpe announce her passing on May 14, 2025, at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander at the age of 86.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Cecil and Mary Anstey, husband Lester Sharpe, sons Thomas and Barry, as well as all her brothers and sisters.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Alexander (Geraldine) Anstey, Belinda (Roy Blandford) Compton, Rowena Sharpe, Brian “Bruce” Sharpe, Jennifer (Robert Carpenter) Sharpe, daughter in law Sue Bishopric, her grandchildren Gregory, Amanda, Nathan (Samantha), Jamie (Evan), Shayna (Kirk), Jessica, Stephen, Allison, Barry Jr. “BJ”, Justin (Sonia), Colby, Kylan, and Kaleb, and her great grandchildren Hayes, Madden, Phillip, Jacob, and Owen, her sister-in-law Mary Sharpe, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joan spent much of her time volunteering with community organizations and church groups, but her real passion in life was crafts! She loved to sew, and her hands always had to be moving. She created many beautiful items over the years. Wedding dresses, quilts, oven mitts, sweaters and socks, to name a few. You name it and she could craft it. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be missed forever.

A special thank you to our brother Bruce for his unwavering support and care of Mom during this incredibly difficult time and for taking such good care of her while we were living away from home. We are so lucky to have you as part of our family.

A heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Nursing staff of the ICU at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander who took such loving care of Mom while she was there, it will not be forgotten.

Donations in Joan’s memory may be given to the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Twillingate.
