It is with broken hearts that the family of Bertram (Bert) Carl White announce his passing on July 12, 2025, at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre at the age of 79. In the days prior to his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family and was able to tell them how much he loved them all.
Bert is survived by his loving wife Harriett (nee Scott), sons Howard White, Grant (Julie) White, his grandchildren Matthew (Melissa) Baker, Heather (Ryan) Semak, Randy (Anna) White, Katie (Curtis) White, Jack (Jenna) White, Grace (Avery) White, and Joey White, his daughter-in-law Bonnie Robinson, his great-grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas Baker and Baby Semak (arriving in October), as well as a large circle of brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bert was married to his loving wife Harriett for almost 57 years. They met when he was 16 and she was 14. They’ve lived in many places all over Newfoundland as well as Yellowknife, allowing them to meet and develop many cherished friendships along the way. Bert worked as a Power Engineer for many years, however, his most recent job, and one that he thoroughly enjoyed, was working as security at the Yellowknife Airport. Bert was a quiet, witty and intelligent man who loved to read. Bert was a lover of music. In his younger years, he played drums in his band “The Mascots” and enjoyed performing with his accordion for his family and friends. Bert was a valued member of the St. Peter’s Anglican Church Choir beginning at the age of 14. Bert loved to play Solitaire on his iPad, watch game shows on television, have a cold one and sneak a small one(s) from time to time!
Bert enjoyed spending time surrounded by his family and was always ready with a joke and a good story. Bert loved his family dearly and especially cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A heartfelt thank you to the nursing and support staff at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre for their kindness and exemplary care.
