She leaves to mourn sisters June (Garnet) and Audrey (Art), sons Don, Gary (Joanne), Glenn (Tina), son-in-law Michael Parker, daughter Marilyn (Heather), 9 grandchildren,11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Iris was born in Beaumont North on a small island near the coast of the island of Newfoundland. She was the second child in a family of six – her sisters Gladys, Stella, June and Audrey and brother Harold. Her first cousin Ernest, who had been orphaned young, was raised by her parents so he was a second brother to her.

Upon finishing high school, she attended Memorial University for teacher’s training and taught in Port Anson and Twillingate. She, then, moved to Toronto to work joining her sister Gladys. While there she met and married Raymond Pardy and together they raised their three sons Donald, Gary and Glenn and two daughters Karen and Marilyn. Their home on Jesmond Avenue was filled with delicious cooking smells and warm welcomes for family and friends. Iris was an exemplary cook and baker. She was an avid reader with biographies her favourite choices. Her penmanship was flawless, and it was a real lift to receive her letters.

As her children grew and were in school, Iris returned to work at a downtown bank. She was a much-valued employee with an uncommon work ethic never missing a shift and always being on time. Upon retirement, Iris and Raymond moved back to their home province to live in Springdale. Iris became an avid quilter in those retirement years and many in her family reaped the beautiful and comfortable results. After 19 years they moved to Ladysmith, BC near their eldest son and family.

She was immensely proud of her children and was their strongest advocate and supporter. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her much joy in her later years. She will be remembered by all as a strong person whose kindness spread much joy to those around her. She was able to remain in her own home until near the end, thanks to Don and Lise.

Her ashes will be laid to rest in Little Harbour, Twillingate, Newfoundland.

Thanks are extended to those who cared for her in her last days and to her family members who gave of their love and care over many years.

Raymond Egburt Donald Pardy

Raymond was born to Donald and Ida Pardy on March 23, 1927. He died with his family by his side in the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, BC on November 18, 2021.

He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Ida Pardy, and his sisters Mabel and Beryl.

He leaves to mourn his sons Donald (Lise), Gary (Joanne), Glenn (Tina), Karen (Michael), Marilyn (Heather), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, his brother Harry (Irene), his sister Daphne (Paul), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Raymond moved to Toronto in 1947 and became a bricklayer. He worked for many yearsas his trade.

He married Iris Paddock in 1950 and together they raised five children: Don, Gary, Glenn, Karen and Marilyn, in their home on Jesmond Ave.

In when he retired Ray and Iris moved back to Springdale Newfoundland where they spent many happy years. Ray did a lot of fishing and some moose hunting while in Springdale. He also had a large garden that he spent many happy hours tending.

In 2002 they moved to Ladysmith B.C. to escape the harsh winters in Newfoundland. They lived close to their eldest son Don and his wife Lise and were able to housesit for them when they went to Mexico in the winters. Ray and Iris spent one winter in Mexico with Don and Lise, where they had many adventures together.

Ray was an avid fisherman and spent many happy hours in the trout and salmon streams. When he wasn’t fishing, he had an extensive garden that produced vegetables and fruit for his and Iris’ use and well as supplying family and friends with delicious home grown produce. In his spare time, he went to his basement where he built stools and newfoundland lunch boxes, flowerpots and other wooden items.

Thanks to Don and Lise for the love and care they provided for Ray in the years he and Iris lived in Ladysmith; to the doctors and staff of the hospital in Duncan for the care they provided to Ray at the end of his life.

Ray had a life full of love and laughter. He loved to tease and he particularly loved to tease Iris until she would exclaim “Raymond!” in a loud voice. They had 71 years together and were still as loving as they were in 1950.

His ashes will be laid to rest in Little Harbour, Newfoundland.
