It is with deep sadness the family of Geraldine Mary Hamlyn announce her passing. Geraldine passed peacefully away on March 31st, 2026, at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre in Twillingate, Newfoundland at the age of 88.

Geraldine was born on Trump Island to Gordon and Flora Burt. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Tizzard’s Harbour, where she spent her childhood and created many cherished memories she would often recall fondly in later years. Geraldine went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the hospital in Twillingate, where she met Johnny. Together, they built a life and raised a family, which became the center of her world.

Left with fond memories by her loving husband of 70 years, Johnny; children, Wanda, Jerry (Dianne), her grandchildren Sonya (Gary), T.J. (Christine), and Katie (Wesley), great grandchildren Alec, Josh, and James. She leaves behind brother-in-law, Wilson (Rebecca), and sister-in-law, Ruth, May, and Shirley. She was loved by an extensive circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special mention for her love of animals, and her fur grandchild, Ghost who loved to visit for treats.

Geraldine is predeceased by her parents. Gordon and Flora; brothers, Obediah, Gilbert and Bruce; sisters Marjorie, Emma, and Ruby. She was predeceased by many in-laws who were an important part of her life.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital for their care, compassion, and support to both her and her family.
