Dear Phyllis, We were with you in our special thoughts and sincere prayer when we heard of Tom's passing to his eternal life with the Lord. It was always a pleasure to visit and share in conversation and memories with you and Tom. He was very complimentary of my mother's love and care when she spent those teenage years in a servant's role with the Noel family. I remember his words..."she was the epitome of cleanliness, and all nine of her tribe were always kept neat and clean'. In my imagination I can see the schooner trimmed, stocked, and sailing out Bridgeport on it's way to another fishing season on the Labrador. In my respect and tribute to him, I would like to quote one of the first poem's I remember memorizing with encouragement and homework instructions from my model teacher, Phyllis.... Sunset and evening star, And one clear call to me! And may there be no moaning at the bar, When I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam! When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark. For through from out our leave of Time and Place The flood may bear me far! I hope to see my Pilot face to face, When I have crossed the bar.
