Obituary of Lucy Simmons
Simmons, Lucy (nee Greenham) passed away March 17, 2017 at Notre Dame Memorial Hospital, Twillingate. Lucy was born on August 20, 1931 to Stanley and Bessie Greenham.
Lucy was predeceased by her parents; her husband Eric Simmons; sisters: Gladys Greenham, Violet Greenham and Amy Gillard; brothers: John Wesley, Elijah and Ralph (Edna).
She leaves behind with heavy hearts: son Ernest (Doreen), daughter Barbara (Wayne Young); granddaughter: Jayne (Sheldon Huelin) & her mother (Trudy); sisters: Nina (Cecil) Thorne & Marjorie (Andy) Gleason; brother in law John Gillard; along with a large circle of extended relatives, loved ones & friends.
Lucy was beautiful, spirted, hard working and generous. She filled her life with love for her family and church service. She loved knitting and quilting and was happy to share a Sunday dinner, many partridgeberry pies, cakes and buns with smiles and much laughter.
Lucy’s family would like to thank Helen Hopkins for her support shown to both Lucy and them during the past few weeks during this very difficult time.
Visitation will take place Saturday March 18th 2-4 and 7-9 PM from Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 PM from Central United Church, Twillingate. Interment will follow at the United Cemetery, Durrell. Rev. George Stockley officiating. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
