Obituary of Joyce M. Ashbourne

Passed away on September 17, 2017, Joyce M. Ashbourne age 86 of Twillingate, NL. She was predeceased by her parents Ethel and Alfred Young; husband Albert Ashbourne; sisters: Ada (Clarence) Rogers, Belle (Graham) Parrott and Doris (William) Bailey; brother James Young; brothers-in-law; Walter Facey, Mark Stuckless, James Clancy, Tom Baird, Rev. Raymond Brett. Joyce leaves with loving memories daughters: Catherine (Fred) MacLean and Thelma (Michael) Power; sons: Harry John (Elaine Dyke) and David (Sharon), daughter-in-law Susan Quigley; grandchildren: Andrew (Lindsey), Mark (Gillian), Amy (Dallas), Damian (Megan), Christopher John (Sarah), Julie-Anne (Stetson), Michael, David (Rebecca), Kyle (Jessica)and Alex (Vanessa); great grandchildren: Liam, Payton, Lily, Abigail, Gabriel, Madelyn, Carter, Amelia, Burton, Laine, Oliver and Walter; sister Thelma (Douglas) Fleury; sister-in-laws: Bessie Stuckless, Vera Young and Joan Baird-Brett; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special mention of Jane Bath, Jessica Baggs and the palliative care team at Central Health and Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Center and Dianne Roberts her home support caregiver. In her earlier years Joyce was active in Girl Guides, Minor Hockey and Swimming Associations. She was also a dedicated volunteer of the Canadian Red Cross, Hospital Auxiliary and the Anglican Church Women group. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 7-9pm from the Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 2pm from St. Peter's Anglican Church. Interment to follow at St. Andrew's Anglican Cemetery, Rev Joanne Mercer officiating. Donations in Joyce’s name may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the Alzheimer Society.
