Obituary of Ellison Greenham
Ellison (Bud) Greenham passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 29th 2017 at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, NL. Bud was born on October 12th 1935 to Donnelly and Carrie Greenham. On June 23rd 1955 he married Ruth Roberts. Together they raised three daughters, Dianne, Beverly and Rose and two sons, Wayne and Brent.
Bud was a warm and devoted family man who loved spending time with family and friends. He greatly enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their activities, especially watching them play hockey. He was kind and generous, always doing things for others. He enjoyed tending to his garden, being on the water, berry picking and going for strolls. He had a great sense of humor with many stories and jokes to make people laugh. He was never idle, always a hard worker who made his living as a lumberjack, fisherman, miner, plant worker and labourer.
He was a devoted Christian who was very involved in his church, The Salvation Army, Bayview Corps, where he played the drum along with his brother, Max for many years. He held titles of being a Senior Solider, Corps Sergeant Major, Men’s Fellowship President, Corps Council Member and Flag Sergeant.
He was predeceased by his parents: Donnelly and Carrie; brothers and sisters: Max, Reg, Ross, Pansy, Blanche, Sadie, Evelyn, Elsie, Shirley; great granddaughter, Haillie.
Bud leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 62 years: Ruth; children: Dianne (Harold), Wayne (Pat), Beverly (Derrick), Roseann (Glenn) and Brent (Lisa); grandchildren: Greg, Vicki, Jordan, Cristy, Scott, Jocelyn, Justin, Kristian, Shannon, Elsie, Wayne, Tanner, Brandon, Chelsea, and Colby; great grandchildren; Casey, Aden, Allexie-Micah, Carter, Maxwell, Preston, Erik, Riley, Adriana, Ayden, Ellie, Bodey, Lincoln, Emme, Maddie, Lydia, and Charlie; sisters; Betty (Jim) and Doreen.
He will be truly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. His spirit will continue to light up our hearts with the goodness of all he was, which could never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-4pm and 7-9pm from the Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate. Funeral service to take place on Monday October 2, 2017 at 11am from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bayview. Captains Denise and Raymond Saunders officating. Donations in Bud's memory may be given to the Salvation Army Corps. Bayview or the Parkinson's Society.
