The people of Grosse Point Estates will always remember how Archie came into the park like a breath of fresh air. Every second Thursday Archie was the driving force behind the organization of the so called 'jams', which became a most anticipated social event in the park. His humour, his smile and his love of music was infectious. Anyone who didn't have a good time was either not there or dead from the neck down. The same holds true when he held court just across the street from where we lived in the park. While his lawn sign said Newfoundlanders Welcomed, no one was ever turned away as he and Shirley welcomed all neighbours who gathered often to mingle with his friends and his siblings. Heaven knows there were enough Brakes either in the park or visiting that it was only natural an impronto "jam" was soon underway. No one whether on foot, bicycle or auto ever passed Archie's without a wave or a vocal greeting. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement, but I am sure that the good Lord has already found him a seat in heaven's choir. Rest in Peace Archie, your contributions to everyone's goodwill will never be forgotten.
