My condolences to the Dove family for your loss of Clayton. While I haven't seen Clayton and Jessie and family for many years I have fond memories of the few visits I had to Twillingate. One time Clayton took me out on the coast in his boat to jig some cod and have a few brew. It was a great day. He was a quiet, proud and kind man who loved his family and community. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Jessie, I have many fond memories as a kid growing up in Crow Head, being on Clayton's bus every morning, and later with you and sometimes with Terry. Many times I missed the first stop but was glad of the turnaround down by Lloyds, it always gave me an extra chance to rush out the road to catch his bus and that normally came with a smile. I remember summer times going down to the wharf, just before the boats came in, as the younger of the bunch, Clayton's boat and Larry & Fred's boat tended to be the only ones that considered giving me the cod tongues or to pick caplin from their catch, I think they took pity on me but I really appreciated it nonetheless. I am sad to hear of Clayton's passing, I am thinking of you and your family today and of these fond memories, my condolences.

Newfoundland has lost a son, and a fine one indeed. I have enjoyed spending my summers for the past few years in Twillingate. Much as Greg did in his youth, kicking around town with Peggy during the day and evenings in a tent beside the Doves' home. The Doves' hospitality knows no bounds. My knowledge of Twillingate stems from stories from my father-in-law, Owen Moors, told to me over and over again about his cousin and they usually started with, "One day, me and Clayton..." and the stories always rambled on in the most delightful of ways and usually involved ice pan jumping, a toboggan and someone being knocked unconscious or floating out of reach on a pan of ice... the stories always involved some sketchy details of some slightly mischievous deeds essential to every boyhood adventure that always left us laughing. Dear Jessie, Terry, Jackie, Evan, Peggy, Chris, Vanessa and Wavey, we hope you find some peace and solace during this difficult time. Although we can't be near you right now, please know that we stand along side you remembering dear Clayton as a fine man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, friend to all and a proud Newfoundlander: Clayton comes from a long line of Doves you see, Here in Twillingate, Newfoundland, they have a history. With his beautiful wife Jessie by his side, They raised their 5 children with love and pride. Crow Head is the place he called home, With his cousin he did roam... All over God's Little Acre as Owen would say, At the Doves', the Moors always had a place to stay. We thank you for the great memories. Rest in Peace dear Clayton. We will miss you more than you know. Love Greg, Lynn, Elliot, Finley and Kipling Moors
