Obituary of Dolores Boyde
"Beautiful, wonderful, sweetheart of a person"
Dolores Boyde, 54, of Twillingate, passed away tragically on Friday, August 14, 2020, with her long-time boyfriend and beloved, Gary Lambert, by her side.
She was born to the late Greta Mitchell on April 10, 1966, and raised by her loving grandparents, the late Solomon and Carrie Mitchell.
Although many know her by her name, her favorite people called her mom and nanny. Dolores devoted her life to being a mother to her four children: Shane (Janice), Sheena (Anthony), and her two youngest whom she always called "the boys" and dreaded the day that they’d ever be grown up and gone, Steven and Shawn.
As much as she treasured being a mother, she absolutely adored being a nanny. She would commonly say how amazed she was by how incredible her grandbabies were in her eyes. To her, her grandchildren were made of magic and could do no wrong.
She called her first grandchild, Luke, "Nanny’s boy". Her second grandchild, Olivia, was quickly nicknamed "Nanny’s Florida girl". When her third grandchild, Jasmine, was born, Dolores named her "Nanny’s Jazzy".
Dolores loved all of her children and grandchildren equally including her two stepdaughters Michaela and Samantha and her four bonus grandchildren, Claire, Brady, AJ and Sophia. In addition to being a mother and nanny, Dolores was a very proud, protective sister to Darlene (Vuk) and Tommy.
Dolores loved her home, her garden and she cherished Twillingate Island. She especially enjoyed summer time when she was able to make new friends with the tourist. In fact, everyone was Dolores‘s friend and she’d never met a stranger. She had the most incredible ability to find something unique about every person she’d ever encounter and complement them in a way that brought upon a meaningful conversation.
She drew joy from the simplest things in life- A cup of coffee in the morning while feeding the birds and squirrels, having her lawn freshly mowed, watching the airplanes fly in the night sky, and finding music videos to share with those she knew needed a little love, to list a few.
Dolores was loved by many and leaves behind a magnitude of family members and friends near and far to mourn her passing. The Boyde, Mitchell and Lambert family are grateful for all the calls, messages, prayers and thoughtfulness during this heartbreaking time.
"If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
So don’t you ever cry.
The love that’s deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You’ll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars."
