Obituary of Shirley M. Scott
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Maxine Scott, who passed away peacefully on October 25, 2020 at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, with her loving family by her side.
Shirley was born on September 27, 1948 in Victoria Cove to the late Maxwell and Helena (King) Bauld. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Allan; daughters Leanne (Mark), Allison (Jason); grandchildren Kyle and Luke; siblings Cyril (Judy), Edwina (Eldon), Elaine (Francis), Aubrey (Shirley), and Ross (Christine); and many special nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Herman.
Shirley spent 30 years teaching elementary school, which was a profession that she truly loved. She spent retirement with her children; doting on every request of her precious grandchildren; quilting and sewing and enjoying the outdoors, most especially spending summers in the boat out on the water. Shirley also cherished the opportunity to see the world by taking many trips traveling with her family. She will be remembered for her tremendously generous attitude, always there to help others when needed. Her abilities were truly astounding and she never hesitated to take on any challenge, be it from sewing a button to making a wedding dress; from putting down flooring to climbing scaffolding; or from pulling up fish to preparing it for the freezer.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Natasha Pardy, Priscilla Clarke, Dr. Jonathan Greenland, Heather Eveleigh, and the staff of the Notre Dame Bay hospital for their care and compassion over the past several months.
In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest priority. At this time, there will be a private service with burial at the St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Twillingate.
