Obituary of Henry C. Coates

HENRY CLIFFORD COATES With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Henry Coates at home in Toronto, Ontario on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the age of 67. He is now reunited with his late parents Alfred and Gladys Coates and siblings Marjorie, Amy and Theresa. Beloved brother of Edward (Cathy), Austin, (Yvonne), Lloyd (Paula), Ivan (Gail) and Patsy (Dave). Dearly missed by many family and friends, especially his little "candy crusher" great-niece Shelby and his nieces and nephews whom all called him "Uncle Bob". Henry was born and raised in Seldom Cove, NFLD and as a child he could always be found doing his favourite thing – colouring. About 40 years ago he made the decision to venture to Toronto for more opportunities in life, but he still called home to his family every night. He loved his Walmart shopping trips, Friday take-out supper and in quieter moments he enjoyed time spent tending to his flowers. He was proud of his east-coast heritage and in keeping with his wish’s cremation will take place and he will be brought home to NFLD. In light of the current Covid-19 restrictions, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest priority. At this time, there will be a private funeral service from the Isles Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2021 at 2pm. Sometimes it's only once a day, quite often it is more, My heart drifts back to Newfoundland, and thoughts of life before.
