Obituary of Alvie B. Barnes
Alvie Bernice Barnes passed peacefully away at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate on Friday March 12, 2021, at the aged 82 years. She was predeceased by: parents Stanley and Kate Rideout; daughter-in-law Marjorie Barnes; brothers: Cyril, Eric (Joyce) and Wallace; and sister Joyce (Ray) Dove.
Alvie leaves with fond and loving memories: husband Walter of over 66 years; Children: Bruce, Jim (Doris), Wilfred (Arlene), Danny (Francesca), and Kevin (Gloria); daughters: Yvonne (Larry) Boyd and Tonya Barnes; grandchildren: Sony, Vincent (Renuka), Amanda (Morgan), Ryan (Julia), Valene (Jeffrey), Bruce (Jennifer), Bradley, Trevor, Timothy, Holly (Preston), Sherry (Nick) and Gavin; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Ashley, Austin, Alexandre, Kiara, Alyssa, Tristan, Courtland, Kira, Maya and Beauden; brother Douglas (Bernetta) Rideout; sisters: Eliza (Doyle) Barnes, Hettie (Harry) Dalley, Yvonne (Mark) Jenkins; sisters-in-law: Hilda Mehaney and Joyce Rideout; also a large circle of other nephews, nieces, extended relatives and friends; as well as Trudy (Robin), Alvie’s best friends forever.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Anne Squires for her love and support shown to both Alvie and Walter over the past few years; and extend heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre where Alvie spent the last number of months.
In light of the current Covid-19 restrictions, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest priority. At this time, there will be a private funeral service from the Isles Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 1pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be given in Alvie’s honor to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund or the Hospital Pond Community Garden.
