Marion Burton

Obituary of Marion D. Burton

Marion Burton passed away at her residence in Twillingate on Friday, January 28th, 2022, at the age of 82 years. On January 31, 2022 we as a family will celebrate the life of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (more affectionately known as "Nanny Burton"). As hard as it is to say good-bye, watching her struggle as time went on, was much harder. Marion was born to Robert and Annabelle Dalley on January 10, 1940 and grew up in a loving and caring home with her fourteen brothers and sisters. She married Sterling on April 9, 1959 and together raised six children. Later Marion and Sterling would be blessed with eleven grandchildren who they adored and twelve great-grandchildren which they were beyond proud and happy to have visits from. Marion loved to quilt, knit, cook and bake, but she enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by: parents Robert and Annabelle Dalley; sisters: Lucy Woolfrey, Gertie (Donald) Young and Jean Dalley; brothers: Ronald (Daphne), George, Stanley (Lillian), Harold (Daphne) and Wally; sisters-in-law Barbara Dalley and Barbara Dalley: and brother-in-law Warrick Young. Marion leaves with many treasured memories: husband Sterling; children: Daryl (Karen), Dennis (Linda), Darlene, Dallas, Dianne (Peter) and Doreen (Clay); grandchildren: Jamie-Lee, Brandi (Chris), Nathan (Melanie), Aaron, Grant (Jodi), Janice (Adam), Susan (Andy), Lacey (Scott), Ashley, Bonnie Jean, (Kristian) and Lucas (Bretta); great-grandchildren Dalton, Tucker, Chase, Elizabeth, Cohen, Waylen, Jondi, Bodey, Emme, Henry, Brielle and Libby; sisters: Joan (Bruce) Oxford and Doreen Young; brothers: Brian (Christine), Jim, Jack (Doris) and Ross (Pat); sisters-in-law: Marguerite Dalley and Audrey Dalley; brother-in-law Alva Woolfrey as well as a large circle of extended relatives and friends. In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest priority. A private visitation by invitation only will take place from the Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 7-9pm. A private funeral service by invitation only held at the Salvation Army Citadel, Twillingate on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 11am. At this time, due to government regulations proof of vaccination will be required for both visitation and funeral service. Donations may be given in Marion’s memory to her family; a charity will be decided at a later date.
