Obituary of Virginia R. Young

Virginia Rose Young passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family on February 20, 2022 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, age 84. On Wednesday February 23, 2022 we will celebrate the life of our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Jeannie (as she was known to everyone) was born to Alex and Ada Marie Linfield on December 16, 1937 in Humber Mouth, later Corner Brook. She moved with her parents back to their hometown of Twillingate at an early age. The oldest of 5 children, Jeannie married Frank Young on July 30, 1958 and began a family. They raised four children together before Frank’s unexpected death in 1981. Jeannie’s strength carried her through as she provided a loving, caring and nurturing home. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren (Nan to all) and later 7 great grandchildren who called her Nana. Jeannie was known to all for her sewing, knitting, crafting, cake making, and hair dressing talents. Besides being a wonderful homemaker she participated in both church and community activities and was a dependable and faithful friend to everyone lucky enough to make her acquaintance. In later years she travelled throughout Canada to spend time with her family and even made a trip to London, England for a special visit with Derek. Jeannie is predeceased by her husband Frank, parents Alex and Ada Marie Linfield, brother John and his wife Phyllis, and sister Marguerite Parsons. Left to mourn are children: Derek (Helen), Tom (Rebecca), Angela, Dale and Joy (Derrick). Grandchildren: Bradley (Tatiana), Jennie (Maurice), Chelsea (Milan), Jill (Cornel), Andrew (Samantha), Robert and Ryan. Great Grandchildren Rubi, Zoey, Claudio, Abby, Mia, Lev and Nova. Sister: June (William Wrixon), Brother: Howard (Ruth) and Brother-in-law: Stan Parsons. Also many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be our highest priority. A public visitation will take place from Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service by invitation only will be held at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Twillingate on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 1pm. Donations in Jeannie's memory be given to World Vision Canada. At this time, due to Covid 19 government regulations proof of vaccination will be required for both visitation and funeral.
