Obituary of Rowena B. Horwood
Passed peacefully away on April 2, 2022 at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Rowena Blanche Horwood at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband James Horwood and her parents William and Fanny Blake. Rowena was the oldest of four children.
On December 15, 1954 Rowena married Jim Horwood of Durrells.
Rowena was a kind and gentle person. In her early days she worked at the old Twillingate hospital and later the fish plant in Twillingate. She was never outgoing, however she immensely enjoyed the odd shopping trip to Gander or Lewisporte with dad. Or a Wednesday trip "up harbour" to get groceries or head to "Riffs". She was always prepared for family visits and made sure Christmas gifts, Halloween treats and birthday cards were all prepared.
Mom loved listening to songs and church services on TV. Her favourite was Charlie Pride records. She also smiled when we ordered the odd meal of Mary Brown’s.
Rowena leaves with fun and loving memories - children - Marie (Wayne), Allan (Cindy), Cathy, Cindy (Rick) and Robert (Jennifer). Also her 10 grandchildren - Jennifer, Jordana, Ashley, Carly, Vanessa, Sarah, Janine, Colton, Mason, Makenna and 6 great grandchildren - Alicia, Alyssa, Logan, Joshua, Selina and Annie.
Rowena also leaves to mourn her brother Wilson Blake (Beryl), sister Stella Conway (Albert, deceased), Violet Day (Freeman - deceased).
Rowena, our mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and will be greatly missed by all.
The loss of a mom is a heartbreaking experience.
We will cherish her memory.
Love you mom
