Obituary of Marie Pond

Passed peacefully away on April 12, 2022, at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Marie Pansy Pond at the age of 78. Marie was born on September 9, 1943 to Mark & Florence Jenkins. She spent her childhood in Blow Me Down, and married Arthur Pond on November 16, 1961. Together they had 7 children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Marie was a devout Christian who loved attending church and reading her bible. Despite losing her husband at a young age, and having to raise 6 children on her own, she came out on the other side even stronger in her faith. She was such a strong woman who is now the sweetest angel. Whether she had plans or was just staying home for the day, she was always done up like a stick of gum. When you walked into her house you'd either find her watching her TV shows, knitting, on the phone with her friends, baking bread or cooking. Whatever the case, she'd have a cup of tea in her hand or very nearby. She loved cooking and baking in abundance so she could have enough to share with whoever walked through her door that day. You could be family or a complete stranger and she would have done anything she could for you. She had the biggest heart, and the warmest smile. If you didn't find her at home in the late summer, you'd find her out in the berry hills. She could stay in one spot and pick and pick until there wasn't a berry left to be seen. She was loved by everyone who met her, and we will miss her forever. Marie was predeceased by: her husband Arthur; parents Mark & Florie Jenkins; son Ricky; sisters Sylvia Marie and Marjorie Barnes; brothers Clarence Jenkins and infant baby brother; brothers in law: Jack Pond, Douglas Pelley and Harvey White; sisters in law: Althea Preston, Daisy Young, Louise Brown and Alma Bath. Marie leaves with loving memories: children: John (Angie), David, Roxanne, Wanda (Bob), Perry (Kim), and Arthur (Cheryl); grandchildren: Amanda (Morgan), Courtney (Joey), Tyler (Hope), Kirk, Dylan, Jonathan (Jessica), Zoe, Zachary, Jacob, Kyla, Tyson and Ethan; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Ashley, Austin, Jaxon, Reese, Aliannah; siblings: Louise Pond, Shirley White, Melvin (Marilyn) Jenkins, Wilfred (Joan) Jenkins, Hardy Jenkins, Lindy (Eileen) Jenkins, and Nelson (Maureen) Jenkins; brothers in law Bruce Barnes and Fred (Netta) Pond; sister in law Margaret Jenkins as well as her extended relatives and friends. A public visitation will take place from Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2pm with Pastor Alwin Reid officiating.
