Obituary of Violet Hynes
Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Violet Hynes, age 85 years. She was predeceased by her husband Clayton at a very young age and raised her five children on her own. She later found happiness and companionship with Ralph Chipman and spent many happy years together. Violet was also predeceased by her parents: Kenneth and Maude Hynes; brothers Ron, Eric; sisters Evelyn and Marie.
Violet was a very gentle, hardworking person. In her early years she worked at the old Twillingate Hospital. When She moved with her family to Happy Valley, Labrador she worked with housekeeping services and later after Clayton passed away and her children had moved away from home she worked as a home care worker.
She was never outgoing but did enjoy going on shopping trips to Gander with her daughters or for long drives with Ralph. Even when sickness didn’t allow her to do the things she loved, she enjoyed the occasional evening drive and trip for ice cream.
She was cared for in her later years by wonderful home care workers and for the last year the staff in the acute and long term care unit at the NDBMHC.
Violet leaves with precious memories: her children: Inez (Eli), Danny (Kathleen), Ivan (Carolyn), Peter (Pamela), Joyce (Richard); grandchildren: Erica (Damian), Megan (Brent), Zach, Bethany, Trevor (Chantelle), Andrew, Allison, Nadia, Timothy, Abbigail, Victoria, Cameron, Miriam, and Avery; great-grandchildren: Tory, Eloise, Zoey, and Judy; siblings: Lloyd (Eileen), Gilbert, Ray (Holly), Mildred (Sylvester), Kathleen (Aubrey), Lily, Magretta and Madeline as well as a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Violet will be greatly missed by a large circle of family and friends for years to come.
A public visitation will take place from Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bayview on Saturday, July 2 at 1pm with burial at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Ragged Point, Twillingate.
Donations may be made in Violet’s memory to the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre Hospital Auxiliary for the Long Term Care Unit.
