Obituary of Nina Belle Cooper
Passed peacefully away at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre on Sunday, May 21, 2023, Nina Belle Cooper, just two months short of her 99th birthday. Nina was born to Amelia and Peter Troake of Durrell’s Arm on July 21, 1924. She was the youngest of eight children. On March 29, 1945 she married Willie Cooper and together they raised four children: Audrey, Howard, Diane and Peter.
Nina had a great love for the outdoors and very much enjoyed berry picking, camping, boil ups, and going for walks. Knitting was one of her passions and many of her family members and friends have been gifted with socks, mitts, hats, towels, or dishcloths. She was a fabulous cook and baker and was always generous with what she made.
As a very positive person, she always tried to see some good in every situation. She was a dedicated member of the United Church Women and Firettes. Nina was a woman of strong faith and loved to listen to gospel music. Every night at bedtime she listened to hymns and often sang along.
Nina was a very special person who touched the lives of many and always put the needs of others before her own. The love for her family was next to none and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in her heart.
She is predeceased by her husband, Willie, parents, Peter and Amelia, brothers; Manuel (Amy), Wilfred (Olive), Hardy, sisters; Jessie (Ted), Bessie (Frank), Lily (Claude), Sally (Marvin), mother and father-in-law, Harry and Kate, baby Chesley, son in law, Max, grand son-in-law, Corey and sister-in-law, Ruby.
