Arthur Manuel

Obituary of Arthur Maidment Manuel

Arthur is predeceased by his parents John and Daisy, his brother Ernie, and nieces Ella and Sandra. He leaves to mourn sister-in-law Hettie, and nephew John, as well as great niece Melanie and her family Robert, Robbie and Ayonna along with extended family and friends. Born in Twillingate to parents John and Daisy (Anstey) Manuel, Arthur cherished his family and delighted in spending time with them. Working at the Manuel family business, Arthur was well known in the community, always greeted everyone who shopped with a cheerful hello and was always ready to lend a hand. Arthur was also a faithful member of St. Peter’s Anglican church, attending every Sunday, singing in the choir for a number of years and participating in church activities. Arthur moved to Nightingale Manor in Gander, NL in 2011 and from the very start loved his new home and Nightingale family. He was an active participant in whatever activities were offered and enjoyed life there to the fullest. Arthur never was particular about which denomination or group was coming in, he enjoyed all equally. He cherished his friendships with other residents and especially the staff, and really appreciated everything and everyone around him. A family could never ask for any better experience than Arthur enjoyed in the last 10+ years of his life. As his health declined, Arthur rarely complained and still showed his genuine concern for others. The caring atmosphere at Nightingale really helped him enjoy life right up to the last moment he spent there. During his last days, Arthur was moved back to Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital in Twillingate, where he received the most compassionate care any family could ask for. Arthur never asked for much, he enjoyed the simple moments in life to the fullest, and appreciated whatever he was given. He was a true example for all of us, leaving us with a legacy of kindness and love that we will always remember.
