With our hearts filled with her love, the family of the late Betty Pride announced her passing at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre on October 4th, 2023, at the age of 77.

Betty was born to Carl and Stella Pride on June 24th, 1946. Due to the passing of her mother at a very young age, the family took it amongst themselves to help raise the young siblings. At the age of 16, Betty went to live with her sister Marie, where she has resided for the last sixty years. Betty was a nurturing, loving and second mom who was a member of the Bath family and helped to raise three children with Wilson and Marie. In her earlier years, she loved to spend time picking berries, reading bedtime stories, and passing the time knitting. She also spent many hours completing crossword puzzles in her recent years.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Carl and Stella Pride, brothers Carl (Francis), Harry (Audrey), sisters Annie (Wilfred), Margaret (Joseph), infant sister Joan, brothers in law Wilson Bath, Mervin Hann and sister-in-law Alvie Barnes.

Left with fond and loving memories are her brothers and sisters, Marie, Pansy, Winnie (Fred) and Walter. Betty leaves behind a large circle of nieces and nephews, but with no children of her own she leaves with special thoughts the children she helped to raise, Danny (Wanda), Cathy (Dwight), Jennifer (Jamey), great nieces and nephews, Shelby (Joshua), Jeremy (Samantha), Jacob, Jackson, and special bond with great great nephew Wesley.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Betty’s niece Loretta Burton and her husband Dave, as well as Debbie and Wanda Bath for all their help over the past few years taking Betty to all her off-island doctors appointments, as well as their love and support during Betty’s stay in the hospital. Also thank you to the staff at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre for their love and care over the last two and a half weeks.

Donations in Betty's memory may be given to the family for a charity that will be decided at a later date.
