Passed peacefully away at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate on Friday, February 9, 2024; Melinda Edith Young at the age of 87.

Melinda is predeceased by her parents Daisy and Phillip Hynes; her first husband Clarence Gillard and her second husband Donald Young, infant son Malcolm, grandson Conrad Stuckless, brother Selby (Marie) Hynes, brothers in law John Gillard and Steward Collins.

Melinda leaves with beautiful memories, her children Madeline (Norman) Stuckless, Melvin (Grace) Gillard, and Shawn Gillard; grandchildren: Brandy (Derick) Rideout, Pamela Stuckless, Crystal (Jamie) Burt, Heather Stuckless, Rhonda (Chris) Crane, and Dwayne (Melissa) Gillard, great grandchildren Anthony, Aaron, Avery, Alex, Adrian, Nicholas, Noah, Nathaniel, Breanna, Hope, Faith, Braydon, Tyson, Emma, Uriah, Logan, Alex, Ashlyn, Kayden, and Nathan; great-great grandchildren Aliyah, Chole, Brielle, Deliah, Kayden and Ezra; siblings Leonard (Margaret) Hynes, David (Alma) Hynes, Rita Gillard-Collins, Gilbert Hynes, Wallace (Viona) Hynes, Bessie (Arthur) Rumbolt, Helen (Patrick) Wiseman, Milton (Daphne) Hynes, Wilson (Winona) Hynes, Rowena (Tim) Philgram, and Ida (Howard) Hynes; sister-in-law Leona Hynes. As well as and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Special thank you to Melinda’s home support workers who helped to keep her in her own home, and the Doctors and Nursing Staff of The Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre who all provided Melinda with loving care and support.
