Obituary of Cathy Suzanne Anstey
It is with great sadness that the family of Cathy Suzanne Anstey announce her passing on October 8, 2024 at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, at the age of 57, surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy was born in Twillingate, NL. She married her husband, Wayne in 1989 and together they raised their 2 sons, Scott & Zachary. She completed nursing in 1987, and later Nurse Practitioner training. She spent the majority of her career as a Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator, a role that she was so passionate about.
Cathy is predeceased by her father Lloyd Bulgin and father-in-law, Malcolm Anstey.
Left to mourn with precious memories are her loving husband of 35 years, Wayne; her sons: Scott (Christine), Zach (Jennifer), her granddaughter: Lydia, her mother: Jean, sisters: Colleen (Roger), Coralee (Tony), nieces and nephews: Samantha, Chad, Farron, Vicky, Rhyan, Tyler, Caitlin, Hayley and Abi, Mother-in-law: Elaine Anstey, Sisters-in-law: Nellie (Wayne), Roxanne (Wade), her “fur babies” Primrose and Willow, and a large circle of other relatives, colleagues, friends and family.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to those who provided exceptional care for Cathy along her journey. These include the staff from the Gander Cancer Clinic, Dr. Nancy Culeten, Dr. Krista Blundell, Dr. Rourke and the staff at the NDBMHC and JPMRHC.
Cathy's greatest love was for Lydia and her two boys who were her first and last thoughts of the day. She cared so deeply about her entire family including Christine and Jennifer who were like her own daughters. Her favourite things included first snow falls, beautiful summer days and starry nights, thunderstorms, her garden of flowers, Christmas, and above all, spending time with her circle of family and friends. Her infectious laugh and care for others will be so greatly missed by all who loved her.
Measure her life, not by length, but by the depths of joy she brought us.
Donations in Cathy’s memory may be given to the family and a charity will be decided upon at a later date.
