Ruby was born on October 23, 1931, to Herbert and Lydia Jenkins of Lower Jenkins Cove. On August 13, 1952, she married Gordon Burton and together they raised two children, Bruce and Shelia.
In 1942 Ruby went to summer school in St. John’s and came home to teach for a year at Lower Jenkins Cove. Later she worked in the business office at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital. Ruby continued her work at the hospital by becoming an LPN, a job she worked at for over 20 years.
Ruby and Gordon enjoyed years of traveling and camping with their circle of friends and created many wonderful memories. Ruby was an avid knitter, and her gifts to family and friends were loved by all.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Sunset Manor, where she resided for the past five years. A special thank you to the Staff at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Care Centre, for the exceptional care they provided.
