It is with great sadness that the family of Roland George Smart announce his passing on December 22, 2024, at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre in Twillingate, at the age of 88.

Roland is predeceased by his parents Raymond & Beatrice Smart, wife Julia, and his son, Craig.

Left to mourn with precious memories are his children Beverly (Hayward) Simms, Sharon Powell, Terry (Paulette) Smart, and Roxanne (Anthony) Gillard, his grandchildren: Shawn, Sheldon, Natasha (Cyril) Aylward, Nicholas (Sue-Lynn) Powell, Melanie (Andrew) Rideout, Megan (Greg) Coates, Joshua Smart, Marcus (Samantha) Gillard, Tamara (Matthew) Wheeler, Steven Smart, and Scott Smart, his great grandchildren Bryan, Abbygale, Scarlett, Ainsley, Nolan, Hannah, Kristopher, Grayson, and Carter, his siblings Shirley (Fred) Saunders, Marina (Fred) Brown, Carl (Carmen) Smart, Eric Smart, Haida (Llewellyn) Grimes, Harold (Mabel) Smart, sisters in law Phyllis (Frank) Moss, Joan (Glenn) Hooper, brothers in law Winston (Wavey) Cutler, Wilfred (Lorraine) Cutler, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
