Sterling was married to his wife, Marion, for 62 years and together they raised 6 children. He spent most of his career as a Helmsman, steering vessels on the Great Lakes. Sterling retired at an early age and dabbled in many hobbies such as woodworking, vegetable gardening, models, and painting. Anyone who knew Sterling knows about his love of his 1949 Willy Jeep and the many hours he spent tinkering and restoring his pride and joy. Most of all Sterling loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a gift for storytelling and always had a joke to share. He will be remembered through his kindness, sense of humor and joy for life. To our dad and pop, your smile will continue to live on in all of us.
Donations in Sterling's memory may be given to The Salvation Army Twillingate Bayview Corps. Cemetery Fund.
