Obituary of Thomas F. White

Thomas Francis White November 1, 1933 - December 1, 2017 Thomas was born in Durrell on November 1, 1933 to Edward and Christina (Wheeler) White. Tom spent most of his life working at sea as a Chief Marine Engineer all over the world, but was happiest when he was home with his family in Durrell. In 1959, he married his loving and devoted wife, Audrey (Scott). Together they built their home and raised a big family. Tom loved music. He loved singing, playing the guitar and harmonica and dancing the jig. His musical talents have been passed along to his many grandchildren who have been inspired by watching and spending time with him. He was a colourful story teller. Tom got, as well as gave, much joy from sharing stories of his life’s adventures with family and friends, both old and new. He loved going out fishing in the summer and picking partridge berries in the fall. He will be remembered by all as a hardworking, fun loving and kind man who helped all those around him. Tom will be greatly missed by wife, Audrey and children: Karen (John), Deborah (Wilma), Donna (Paul), Carol Anne (Hardy), Rosalind (Paul), Trevor (Arlene), Kimberley; and, grandchildren: Cora-Lee, Mandy and Wendy; Gabi, Josh, Allie, and Karl; Terri Lynn, Edward and Monica; Gregory and Hilary; Danielle, Stephen and Taylor; Alyssa, Cody and Brady; Chelsey; and, great grandchildren: Julian, Kloe and Lukas; Kaitlyn and Isaac; Andrew, Cooper and Alice; Harlow; Carrie Ann and Curtis; Freddie; Yara; Gabriel; and, sisters, Laurinda and Mary; and, sisters-in-law, Louise, Viola, Alma, Mildred, Joyce, Viola (Jack), Shirley, Lorraine (John), Ruth, Norma (Gerry) along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donations can be made in Tom’s memory to the Durrell Museum (formerly known as The Arm Lads Brigade Hall).
