To Aunt Shirley, Dean, Dana, Darren, Darlene and families my heartfelt sympathies! I have many fond memories of Uncle Otto. Especially from my summertime visits with mom when I was younger and even in later years. He was so talented. A musician, performer, painter, model boat builder, just to name a few. I loved to watch and listen to him play. Especially, when he sang with mom and sisters. I also loved his stories too. He is dearly loved by me and all my siblings and extended family. I know many people who met him from all over the world, while staying in your cabins, loved him too and enjoyed his accordion playing, ugly-stick playing and story telling. Uncle Otto was such a joy to be around. He was such a kind, sweet man and a big animal lover. He will be missed my many, but especially by me! Rest Easy now Uncle! Give Mom, Aunt Doreen and Aunt Barbara hugs and love from me! I was so proud to call you my Uncle because in my eyes you were Awesome!

We set out last July in search of Otto as he was a dear friend of my Father's, Merlyn Dicks (Springdale) to let him know of my Father's passing. My Father spoke highly of Otto. Of his talents, the friendship they shared and his kindness. We were so lucky to have met him and send out deepest condolences to his family.

Aunty Shirley and family, it had been my honour and a privilege to have know Uncle Otto. He has been an inspiration to many of us. His musical talents and artistic skills were what visitors knew of him.his passion for people and love of life is what we as family knew. I remember his stories and his grin and the music he would play for me. Our boat rides and the way he glowed when on the water. Your hearts are broken, the world we live in a little less sane. When Gabriel blows his horn Uncle Otto will stand up and play his Acordian. I cry not for Uncle Otto for he is in a better place I cry for myself because I miss him. Love Glen and family

Aunt Shirley and Young Clan, we are very sad to hear of Uncle Otto's passing. So many great memories in that majestic cove of Little Harbour I experienced as a child and later the great times I had with you guys in Gros Morne helping Uncle Otto construct/reno those cabins. He taught me the fundamentals of construction during this period and told me many stories (and jokes) that would have me in glee (and bagging for more). You guys treated me so well and I'll cherish those memories forever. My brothers and I all admire Uncle Otto and were always wanting to visit whenever we came back to the Island in later years. If I were to walk around any of my family members houses I'd see a glimpse of Uncle Otto talents on the walls in painting form, or perhaps a painted sea shell of a NFLD landscape, maybe a wooden craft or a masterfully created boat or schooner. Uncle Otto currently greets my guests in my house with his "Boyhood Home" painting. I am very proud of him and was blessed to have him as my Uncle. I appreciate ever cord, every squeeze on the box and the beautiful voice to follow. I enjoyed every musical piece he played with mom, dad, brothers, family and friends. I remember him today and forever with a big smile but my heart will miss him so. I have and will keep you and your family in our prayers. Lots of Love Aunt Shirley! Rest in Peace Good Uncle!

To Shirley and family. We were deeply saddened when we heard that Otto had passed away. We met Otto for the first time back a few years ago when we booked in at his tourist cabins. We were so impressed with the service that we made it a point to visit there many times thereafter for the next several years. During our last visit a few years ago we said he may or may not be operating beyond that year. We found Otto to be one of the most friendly people we have ever met. He was all there to go out of his way to do what he could for everyone. He was a sure hit with those who was fortunate enough to have known him. We extend our deepest condolences to Otto's family on the loss of this fine man. Alfred & Alice Keats Mount Pearl,NL.
