Obituary of Olive G. Janes

Olive G. Janes passed away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on April 9, 2021. She was 93 years old. Olive was born at Twillingate, the daughter of Allan and Mary Young. In her early years she worked as a school teacher at Carter's Cove, Harcourt, Clarenville and St. John's. She met and married the love of her life, Roger Janes at Clarenville. They were together for 62 years until his passing. They lived in St. John's at the beginning of their marriage and later moved to Gander. After Roger's retirement they spent their winters in Florida, the fall and spring in Nova Scotia and their summers in Traytown. No matter where she lived, everyone was always welcomed. Olive loved travelling, meeting new people and - of course – yard sales. She had great Faith and loved God, her family and friends. Olive had been a resident of the Nightingale Manor in Gander for the past three and a half years. She loved all the church and social events that were held there. She was known for playing her spoons whenever the music began. She also loved chocolate, puzzle books and colourful scarves. She will be greatly missed.
