This afternoon mom, dad and I shared some very special stories and memories of Gussie. Gussie, Harold, Joan and Debbie were a big, and very special, part of our lives and family for as far back as I can remember. May your light always shine bright in those whose lives you touched. My deepest condolences.

Sending along our loving and heartfelt condolences to the Wheeler Family. We were deeply saddened to hear of dear Gussie's passing. Gus was an important part of our family and I have many fond memories of him spending time at our family home. Gus always had a seat at our table and often enjoyed a meal and a cup of tea before church. He was a loyal friend and companion to many. Rest easy, Gussie. You will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Gussie's passing. We, the members of the Springdale Braves, from the 70's and 80's adopted Gussie as our special advisor when we played the Combines in Twillingate. He was a joy to have around our dressing room. R.I.P. Gussie!!

To the Wheeler family, please accept our sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Gusie. "Gusie Joe" as we affectionately called him was a long-standing and important part of the Watkins and Churchill families. We all have numerous, special and wonderful memories of Gusie and his many visits to and meals at our homes. There was always a place for him at our kitchen table. Given Gus's well known presence in Twillingate, I always said that he should have a state funeral. In his younger years he was a constant in our community and known by all. When he was able, Gus never missed attending weddings, funerals, church services and any other community gathering. Visiting those in hospital was a daily routine for Gus and no doubt he was a friend to all. We have fond memories of spending much time with Gus playing board games, putting together puzzles, coloring, and berry picking, just to name a few. Please take comfort in knowing that Gus was loved by many, was always welcome in our homes and treated like family. Rest easy and in peace Gusie. With deepest sympathy, Kathy Watkins and family

So sorry to hear of Gusie's passing. We have so many memories of time spent with Harold, Joan, Gusie, and Debbie. Gusie especially enjoyed the summertime day trips in the van, not just around the local area, but to places as far afield as Corner Brook, Springdale, Bay Verte, Buchans, Bonavista, and the Hibernia construction site at Bull Arm. Each year in the spring he would be asking when we were going on "the trip". We remember their visits to our house, especially at Christmas, and our meals at their house (especially Harold's rabbit stew). These were always special events for Gusie which he thoroughly enjoyed. Then there were the many trips out of town to get Sammy the dog groomed. Gusie so much enjoyed eating at KFC, Mary Brown's, and Ches's Fish and Chips. We have so many fond memories of him. May he rest in peace. Deepest sympathy.
