Obituary of Augustus Joel Wheeler

Augustus Joel Wheeler, affectionately known as Gussie, passed away at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the age of 82 years old. He was predeceased by: parents Pearce and Martha Wheeler; brothers: Lloyd, Harold (Joan) and Frank; and sister Frances. Gus leaves with many loving memories: sister-in-law: Evelyn Wheeler, dear friend Faye Brake, nieces: Debbie and Beverly (Aaron); nephew Jim (Katherine); great niece Sarah; great nephews Ean and Adam; special friend Adelaide Hodder; extended relatives and friends. "Much of the beauty of life is found in the people who care………", the Wheeler family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Gus’s extended family; the staff of Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre Long Term Unit for their kindness and compassion shown to Gus over the past eight years. In light of the current Covid-19 restrictions, the health and safety of our families and our community continues to be of highest priority. At this time there will be a private funeral service from Salvation Army Citadel, Twillingate on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM with burial at the United Church Cemetery, Rink Road. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Gus’s memory may be made to the United Church Cemetery Fund, Rink Road.
