Obituary of Gertie Smith

Passed peacefully away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate, Gertie June Smith, age 72 years. She was predeceased by her parents: Edward and Georgina Stuckless; son Jeffery; brother Reginald Stuckless; and sister Maggie (Eric) Spencer. Gertie leaves with precious memories: husband Wayne of 53 years; sons Garry (Kelly) and Tony (Terrilynn); grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kyle, Nathan and Noah; siblings: Bill (Rhona) Stuckless, Betty Stuckless, Alfred (Ann) Stuckless, Dorothy (Melvin) Wells, Evelyn (Hardy) Gillard, Dulcie (John) Dove, George (Brenda) Stuckless and Minnie (Simon) Schwartz; sister in law Joyce Stuckless; as well as a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you the Doctors and Staff of the Long Term Care Unit of the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Care Centre for their tireless and dedicated care to Gertie over the past two years. A public visitation will take place from Isles Funeral Home, Twillingate on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held from the Calvary Pentecostal Church on Sunday, May 15 at 2pm with burial at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Ragged Point. Donations may be made in Gertie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
