I’ve known Roy since I was a little girl and he always had a hug and kind word whenever we chanced to meet! His beautiful smile and stories will be forever remembered. I am so saddened to hear of Roy’s passing. I have many memories of him from time spent in Lewisporte and Twillingate but the ones that stand out are the ones where he talked of his other love… on the water, whether it was fishing, hunting seals & turrs or just enjoying a boat ride. He always had a twinkle in his eye as he talked about the cod, the salmon and so on. And of course, me being from the Northern Peninsula, meant that Roy had lots of questions for me about the fishery, seals and anything else to do with the sea. I will cherish those times; as well as the ones listening to him play the accordion and telling stories of his life. I know today will be a difficult one for Aunt Molly, Lee, Tara, Michael, Tanya and their families. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Cherish your memories and keep them them close, as it is those memories that, one day, will not only bring tears but will also bring smiles as you celebrate the man that was Roy Gillard. Hugs to you all. Rest In Peace Roy.
Love you all,
Pat Fitzpatrick , Conche.
