Obituary of Geraldine Elizabeth Hynes
Geraldine Elizabeth Hynes passed peacefully away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at her residence in Twillingate, NL surrounded by her children. Geraldine was born on September 19, 1940, to George and Beatrice Hicks, the eldest of 5 children. On July 7, 1960, she married Ronald Hynes. Together they raised seven children, Thelma, Kevin, Irene, Paul, Kimberly, Darlene, and Lindy.
In her early years Geraldine worked at the Captain White’s Hotel and was a Nursing Assistant at the Twillingate Hospital. She also worked at the Twillingate Fish Plant, as a Home Care Worker and worked on a project to renovate the Salvation Army Church, Bayview. She loved playing a game of Skip boo, and her baking and cooking was awesome! She was a homemaker and enjoyed her cup of tea, knitting, quilting and going to the Campground to camp. She loved growing and tending to her houseplants and will sorely be missed by her little cat, Smokey. Geraldine was a member of the Bayview Salvation Army Corps. and spent many an hour volunteering day or night at the Corps.
Geraldine was predeceased by her husband Ronald Hynes; her parents George and Beatrice Hicks, baby brother Ernest; her in laws Maude and Kenneth Hynes; nephew Sandy Hicks, family friend Billy Taylor; brother-in-law Eric Hynes; sister -in- laws Evelyn Greenham, Violet Hynes, Lil Conway, and Marie (Selby) Hynes.
Geraldine leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children; Thelma Hynes, Kevin (Dianne) Hynes, Irene (Allister) Jenkins, Paul Hynes (Dianna Bath), Kimberly (Sherman) Rideout, Darlene Hynes, and Lindy (Cassandra) Hynes, grandchildren; Barry (Amanda) Brown, Christopher, Jessica S. (Matthew), Chantel, Jasmine, Jenna-Mae, Jessica B., Samantha, Jayden, and Mia; great-grandchildren; Zachary, Mackenzie, and Mason; sisters Margaret (Leonard) Hynes, Louise (Wilson) Froude and brother Roland (Glennis) Hicks, sister in laws Kathleen (Aubrey) Chinn, Millie (Selby) Kavanaugh, Madeline Hynes , Magretta Seaward and brother in laws Raymond (Holly) Hynes, Gilbert Hynes, and Lloyd (Eileen) Hynes.
Geraldine will be truly missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
