Max’s family!I have known Max almost all of my life,starting when he joined his father,Allan engaged in conveying passengers on the Twillingate.to Botwood run on the Margaret Josephine!From that time to this I have considered Max a friend and I had a lot of contact with him especially in the summers over the years,until recent years!Max was always consistent in his friendly ,quiet approachable personality and in his ability to effectively tell stories or reminiscing about the past’ especially stories from the boating days!I will always be grateful to Max and his dad for their reaction to the following incident!I was 15 at the time and I was asked once again to steer the boat with 38 passengers aboard while they worked below!I followed their directions but accidentally struck a rock turning the boat over on its side as it slid off the rock!After seeing there was no damage his father with Max’s approval said words I never forgot….”Take the wheel again sonl”.Instead of criticism I received encouragement! And I was grateful and used their treatment of me as a model in my treatment of others!As you mourn and celebrate his life be assured of my prayers for your comfort!
