Obituary of Maxwell Alonzo Jenkins
Passed peacefully away at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre on Sunday, November 19, 2023, Maxwell Alonzo Jenkins at the age of 89. Max was born to Mabel and Allan Jenkins on July 25, 1934. On August 15, 1956, he married Hilda Pearl Abbott and together they raised three children: Verna, Debra, and Peter.
Max was a truck driver, fisherman, fish plant worker and labourer. He enjoyed his craft work, berry picking and was a Fireman with the Twillingate Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is predeceased by his parents, Allan and Mabel Jenkins, his wife Hilda, son Peter, grandson Joey, brothers Walter Jenkins and Hubert Jenkins.
Max leaves with beautiful memories, his children Verna Clarke, Debra (Barry) Young, and his daughter in law Joan Jenkins, his grandchildren; Jamie (Kim), Jeffery, Justine (Peter), and Jody (Amanda); his great grandchildren Shelby (Craig), Charlotte, Jayden, Parker, and Adalynn; and his great great grandchild Issac, his sisters in law Dorothy Stagg and Marjorie Jenkins. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Special thank you to Elizabeth Jenkins and the Notre Dame Compassionate Care Home Support workers, Management & Staff of Sunset Manor as well as Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Center Doctors and the Nursing Staff who provided Dad with unwavering care and support over the last few years.
