Obituary of Charles Paul Hickmott
Charles Paul Hickmott Sept. 4, 1935 – Dec. 23, 2023
Charles or Charlie as he liked to be called, was born in London, England to Jeffrey and Alice Ann Hickmott. He was a member of the British Army as a Medical Technician, with dedicated service in Egypt, Cyprus and Jordon with the rank of Private. Charlie spent many years as a plumber by trade working in England before coming to Canada in the ‘60s. While living in Toronto with his sister Jane and nephew John, he met the love of his life, Iona “Hazel” and together they made a home in Cobbs Arm. Here in this beautiful part of Newfoundland he made many friends that brought him much laughter and joy. Charlie was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Twillingate, serving as Chaplain for many years. He was also a Lay Reader in the Anglican Church.
Charlie was pre-deceased by his wife Hazel (Pardy) in 2013. He is survived by their son Jeffery Albert Hickmott.
Charlie was pre-deceased by the following sisters and brothers; Lillian, Jane, Dorothy, Jeffery, James (infant), Olive, Alice, Poppy, Jessie and Eileen along with nephews Michael Sitoriou and John Hickmott.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews in England, New Zealand and Canada.
